To become a licensed Unity teacher, there are four
important steps required, and in
this sequence:
Complete the Spiritual Development
Program. You must also pass a written exam and a psychological
examination. Graduation from the Spiritual Development
Program is required before beginning work in the
Leadership Development Program.
Complete the Leadership Development
Program. To apply
for the Leadership Development Program, you’ll
need to specify your focus area—administration,
adult education, pastoral care, or youth education—and
obtain the recommendation of your Unity minister. (All but the 40 hours of specialty courses will be taught on the Unity Village campus.)
Meet practicum requirements and
complete the Skills Demonstration Seminar. You’ll design
your own practicum—including volunteer work in
a Unity ministry and teaching responsibilities—in
consultation with the Licensed Unity Teacher Coordinator
and your Unity minister.
Be approved by the Board of
Trustees of the Association of Unity Churches as
a licensed Unity teacher.
